Lyft Urban Solutions is delighted to announce that it will supply Madrid, Spain with equipment and technologies for its new bike share system, slated to roll out in 2023.

As a global bike share leader, we've been selected to provide the upcoming bicimad system with a large-scale fleet of 7,500 E-FIT electric bikes and 611 Smart Stations — making it the biggest e-bike fleet we’ve deployed anywhere in the world to date!

This important project is in collaboration with Serveo – our partner with whom Lyft Urban Solutions has implemented other successful bike share networks in Spain, in cities including La Coruna and Barcelona – and with EMT Madrid, the organization in charge of the city’s public transit.

The Best-in-class equipment for the most vibrant experience

Our upcoming system in Madrid will bring our beloved E-FITs e-bikes to the service of locals and visitors, offering a healthy, lively, and eco-friendly urban transit solution.

Once secured at our Lyft Urban Solutions Smart Stations, our smart technology will charge up e-bikes rapidly and automatically at their docking points. bicimad will also benefit from our best-in-class operating system which communicates real-time information about battery, bike, and network health directly to the operator for optimal system management.

Lyft Urban Solutions Milestone: bicimad's launch will mark 100,000 Lyft Urban Solutions bikes deployed worldwide!

Not only does this exciting new Madrid system illustrate Lyft Urban Solutions’s rapid expansion within Spain, this launch will bring to more than 100,000 the total number of bikes we’ve rolled in cities worldwide, including London, Monaco, Barcelona, Dubaï, Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, Aspen, Detroit, Honolulu, Toronto and Montreal.

“At Lyft Urban Solutions, we’re constantly innovating to lead the bike share movement with custom urban solutions aligned to each city’s unique mobility needs” says Gian Carlo Crivello, CRO of Lyft Urban Solutions. “Working closely with our valued partners in Spain, we’re thrilled with this latest major project, and proud that our technological innovations, micromobility experience, and collaborative vision can contribute to the modernization and growth of Madrid’s transit offerings.”

By replacing an older system by a different provider, this modernization will double the number of bikes in the fleet and extend the system to more areas of the city. Lyft Urban Solutions will manage system transition management and data migration, a specialized field in which we possess proven expertise - as evidenced by our seamless system transitions in cities such as Barcelona.

As the world embraces the collective power of bike share, we couldn’t be happier to be part of this evolution and we look forward to this upcoming launch!
