BOOST GEARS UP FOR MONACO
Lyft Urban Solutions’S BOOST E-BIKES GEARED UP TO TACKLE MONACO’S HILLS
Monaco is the latest city to feel the power of Lyft Urban Solutions’s BOOST electric pedal-assist bikes. The Principality officially kicked off their new MonaBike program on July 12 at a ceremony hosted by Prince Albert II. He was joined by Lyft Urban Solutions CEO Luc Sabbatini, Monaco’s Minister of Public Works, the Environment and Urban Development Marie-Pierre Gramaglia, Caroline Pratte, honorary consul of Canada in Monaco, as well as Roland de Rechniewski, director of operations for Compagnie des Autobus de Monaco (CAM), MonaBike's operator.
With over 300 BOOST e-bikes and 35 smart docking stations, MonaBike spans the entire Monegasque territory, from Monte Carlo’s city centre to the train station, Prince’s Palace and casino. Smart stations will also be placed in Beausoleil, on the border between France and Monaco, come September. Commuters can find stations in select underground parking lots, inviting them to leave their cars behind and hop on a bike for the last leg of their journey.
THE BOOST e-bike, which can reach speeds of up to 25 km/h, has a rear propulsion motor that adjusts based on the rider’s needs, propelling them smoothly and comfortably without noise or vibrations up Monaco’s rugged and hilly terrain. It has an autonomy range of 60km and once docked at a Lyft Urban Solutions’s smart station, the e-bike battery begins to automatically recharge.
Locating, renting and returning a MonaBike is as easy as 1-2-3! Lyft Urban Solutions’s intuitive CycleFinder mobile app features real-time mapping of stations. Easily unlock an e-bike by scanning its QR code with the app or tap the CAM transit pass on the docking station and go!
CAM, with Lyft Urban Solutions’s support, deployed the new MonaBike system in record time, thus cementing Lyft Urban Solutions’s reputation for speedy, punctual rollouts.
The new MonaBike is a pillar of Monaco’s Smart City program, aimed at promoting low-carbon mobility. It triples bike-share capacity in the Principality versus the previous system, which Lyft Urban Solutions was chosen to replace.
