Lyft Urban Solutions to deploy Fort Worth’s next generation bike-sharing system

Famously known as America’s iconic "Cowtown" city, Fort Worth is embracing an innovative transformation in urban mobility. With its unique blend of Western heritage and vibrant modern spirit, this Texas city has long been committed to sustainable and innovative development, investing in initiatives that enhance quality of life for residents. 

Aligned with these goals, Fort Worth has now partnered with Lyft Urban Solutions to launch the new Trinity Metro Bikes system – replacing a system provided by a previous supplier. 

Trinity Metro Bikes: an inclusive, cutting-edge solution

In collaboration with Trinity Metro, Fort Worth’s public transportation agency, we are thrilled to announce the upcoming launch of the new Trinity Metro Bikes system. Planned to launch in January  2025,  the enhanced system will feature a mixed fleet of 400 bikes – including 340 electric bikes – and 62 smart stations.

This mixed fleet, as well as the new pricing structure, allows riders to choose the bike that best suits their journey, whether it’s a quick electric-assisted commute or a leisurely pedal through the city. This flexibility reflects Trinity Metro Bikes’ commitment to meeting diverse user needs and providing inclusive access.

The solution will also be equipped with cutting-edge smart stations that support both electric and solar power. Electric charging stations enable  recharging of the electric fleet, increasing  continuous bike availability. Meanwhile, solar-powered stations align with Fort Worth’s sustainability goals, further contributing to the city’s reduced carbon footprint.

With an impressive 90% of its fleet electric, Trinity Metro Bikes reflects the global shift toward e-bikes as a preferred choice in bike-sharing systems worldwide.

E-bikes are increasingly being recognized as a practical and efficient mode of transportation,  combining the convenience of cycling with the added ease of electric assistance. This option is especially appealing in Fort Worth's warm climate, allowing riders to travel comfortably from point A to point B without breaking a sweat.
