A behind-the-scenes look at Citi Bike operations in NYC

Since launching in 2013, Citi Bike has rapidly evolved into North America's largest bikeshare system. Now supporting a fleet of over 35,000 bicycles and 2,300 docking stations, the system handled more than 46 million rides in 2025 alone, with ebikes powering 70% of those journeys.

Operating at this magnitude requires precision. Keeping the wheels turning demands robust operations, expert staff, and sophisticated tech tools to ensure a smooth and reliable user experience. Curious to see how cutting-edge technology meets boots on the ground expertise? Click on the link below!

Lyft Urban Solutions to power major Mi Bici expansion in Guadalajara with electric bikes and charging infrastructure

Lyft Urban Solutions has been selected by Guadalajara's Metropolitan Agency of Infrastructure Services for Mobility (AMIM) to power a major expansion of Mi Bici, one of Latin America's most successful bikeshare systems. Delivered in partnership with BKT Bici Pública, the system's operator, this investment will bring our best-in-class ebikes and charging infrastructure to a program that, until now, operated exclusively with pedal bikes.

As Guadalajara prepares to host four soccer matches of one of the world's most-watched sporting events, this expansion will showcase world-class sustainable mobility on a global stage while delivering improved transportation for residents and visitors alike. Key innovations include:

  • 960 Lyft Astro electric bikes, marking the system’s transition from a pedal-only fleet to a versatile mixed fleet
  • 100 new in-dock charging stations with 1,900 Lyft Pillar docking points, each powered by a Lyft Obelisk kiosk to ensure an always-charged ebike fleet
  • A new rider mobile app, offering a more intuitive experience with integrated payments through Apple Pay and Google Pay
  • Extended service into new neighborhoods, including San Andrés, Del Fresno, La Calma, Minerva, Providencia, and Santa Margarita

Multijurisdictional bikeshare systems are smoothly crossing the lines

Multijurisdictional bikeshare enables regional travel that would otherwise require driving, creating downstream benefits aligned with climate and transportation goals. Five of the Lyft Urban Solutions (LUS)-operated bikeshare systems in the US are multijurisdictional, spanning 32 municipal jurisdictions and 34 public agencies across seven states and the District of Columbia — growth from just 13 jurisdictions when LUS took over operations of these programs in 2018.

Partners from DC's Capital Bikeshare and Greater Boston's Bluebikes share what's driving growth in their regions and what it takes to manage regional bikeshare systems that truly work for everyone.
